[Finished] Operation Deadly Love

  • *A little earlier*
  • Misun and I arrived at Kim Jae-Hyun’s house – or rather mansion. Even from the gateway, it looked pretty huge and expensive.
  • ‘Well look at that, another mansion,’ I mumbled to myself but Misun heard me anyways.
  • ‘You really have a thing against rich people, don’t you?’ Misun asked as we got out of the car. She wasn’t scolding me like earlier, but rather, understand me.
  • ‘Not exactly a thing against them. It just irks me. Like I said earlier, I hate that some have so much while others barely have anything to go by with,’ I replied as she nodded.
  • ‘For the record, I agree with you. It’s like society has improved so much when it comes to certain things, yet, poverty and unfairness remain something so persistent,’ she said while I nodded.
  • ‘Even before I became a cop, I could see it, but when I became one and started working with the gangs and narcotics division, I could see it more clearly. There’s this huge divide and it’s unfair,’ I said.
  • ‘Yeah I know. Unfortunately, those type of circumstance can lead some people, although not all to very bad roads,’ she said. ‘Then you have people like this one, who have more than they can spend, but would still want more,’ she said.
  • ‘Yep. I think that’s one of the things that really bothers me actually. I mean like come on, you’re richer than a large portion of society. Stop complaining about needing and wanting more,’ I said, shaking my head.
  • ‘At least, our victims, Kim Dong-Hyun and Park Han-Gyeol were trying to use that money to do some good for society,’ she said.
  • ‘And that might have gotten them killed,’ I said as the two of us reached the gate. ‘Hmm that’s strange,’ I mumbled as the front gate was opened.
  • ‘Something doesn’t feel right,’ Misun commented as she drew her gun from her holster. I did the same as I straightened my bulletproof vest. She came in front of me, causing me to internally roll my eyes. I didn’t say anything because I knew she was doing it on instinct and probably because she was team leader, yet, a part of me wanted to protect her. Still, I did not dare to say that out loud.
  • ‘Be careful,’ I tell her as she nodded. The two of us entered the premises, making our way to the front door. Misun closed her eyes for two seconds, took a deep breath and knocked loudly on the door.
  • ‘Seoul Police. Open up!’ she yelled, her voice loud and clear, but there was no response. She went to knock again, when suddenly, we heard a loud crash. Instantly, our eyes seemed to find him as he took off running. The * had run from the backdoor but the * had bumped into the trashcan, causing the noise to happen.
  • ‘We have a runner,’ I said as the two of us started running after him. All three of us were running as fast as lighting, jumping over obstacles. Why did they always have to run? Did they not realize how much they incriminated themselves like this? Did they not realize that we would get more *ed off like that.
  • Suddenly, Jae-Hyun turned around as he went to shoot. ‘LOOK OUT!’ Misun screamed as she pushed me away, sending me to the ground. I saw her go down to the ground just as the sound of a shot echoed. I stood up, my eyes wide and my heart racing.
  • ‘NO! MISUN!’ I yelled as I skidded over to her. She groaned in pain as her hand flew to her chest while I helped her to sit up. She heaved, probably from the pain while I tried to look and pressed on her chest, causing her to wince. ‘*, are you okay? Are you hit?’ I asked, worried.
  • ‘I’m fine. It hit the vest. Go get him Jungkook!’ she said. I looked at her unsure, not really wanting to leave her, but she nodded reassuringly. ‘Go, I’ll catch up,’ she said, with a tone of authority.
  • I nodded as I stood up and took off running. That * had done it. I sprinted until I saw him again. He didn’t realize I was still after him, probably thinking I had stopped to stay with her. I looked around and saw an alley.
  • I took a turn and ran through there and then came out, cutting him off and sending him to the ground. I tackled him, sending him face first to the ground.
  • ‘Stay down you *,’ I said as I pushed the gun away from his hands.
  • ‘Let me go!’ he roared as he tried to hit me, but I scoffed and used my elbow to force him against the ground.
  • ‘You’re under arrest,’ I said as I harshly twisted his arms up. He cried out in pain as I put on the handcuffs, not caring about whether I was hurting him or not.
  • ‘You’re being too rough. I’ll sue you you little *er!’ he yelled at me as I pulled him up to his feet.
  • ‘Go ahead and try. I will tell the court how you took off running, resisted arrest and oh, how you shot my partner, you *ing *. I’m sure they’ll love that,’ I said as I pulled at his hands more roughly while he cried out.
  • ‘Jungkook,’ I heard Misun call as I turned around to see her. Her hand was still on her chest, probably because her chest area still hurt.
  • After all, being shot but hit on the vest didn’t mean you didn’t get hurt, it just meant you didn’t die. A shot to the vest felt like being hit with a hammer and most of the time, it left pretty bad bruises. Right now, her chest must be feeling as if a brick fell on it, making even her breathing painful. I growled a little, getting angrier as I saw her wheeze in a breath.
  • ‘Did you read him his Miranda rights?’ she asked him. I shook my head and she sighed.
  • ‘Mr. Kim, you’re under arrest for the suspicion of murdering Mr. Kim Dong-Hyun and Mr. Park Han-Gyeol, resisting arrest and shooting a law enforcement officer. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you,’ she said.
  • ‘Go to hell *,’ he said. Misun rolled her eyes, but I could not resist but pull at his hands more firmly.
  • ‘Watch your tongue and how you speak to her. Didn’t your parents teach you any manners?’ I spat out at him.
  • ‘Leave it Jungkook. He’ll see who goes to hell, whether it’s me or him,’ she said with a slight smirk as she bent down and picked up the gun. She put it in a plastic bag and put it in her pocket, ready to secure it with evidence.
  • ‘Move!’ I ordered as I pushed Jae-Hyun to start walking towards the car.

  • Jungkook stayed at the back, near our main suspect who had instantly became our number one suspect after his actions. He had motive and he ran, not to mention, he could have possibly shot at me with the same murder weapon that was used on his brother and partner. We would find out soon enough anyways.
  • I looked at Jungkook from the mirror but he still looked *ed off. He had a stern look on his face, almost as if he wanted to beat the guy next to him. I did not think that me being hit would have such an effect on him. I was okay, a little bruised but okay. Besides, we barely knew each other, so why was he so *ed off?
  • I shook it off and continued to drive, until we reached the precinct. I parked the car and opened the door as I “helped” Jae Hyun out of the car. Jungkook quickly came out as he grabbed him by the arms.
  • ‘I want my lawyer,’ Jae-Hyun quickly said, causing me roll my eyes.
  • ‘I got him Misun. I’ll take him to the cell and lock him up for now. You go get checked out by the medic,’ Jungkook ordered.
  • ‘I’m fine Jungkook,’ I said, trying to reassure him but he looked uneasy.
  • ‘I’m serious. Go get checked out,’ he said, making me smile a little. I didn’t think he was this caring.
  • ‘I’ll go later, I promise. Go get him processed, I need to set the team on some tasks,’ I said.
  • ‘Fine,’ he replied, clearly not happy with my answer. I sighed as I watched him leave while pushing Jae-Hyun. I frowned as I ran my hand through my hair. Today, had been a long, long, first day.
  • I walked inside the building to see the team staring at Jungkook who was still looking *ed off as hell.
  • ‘Misun,’ Namjoon called out as I turned to face him. ‘Is everything okay? Jungkook looked absolutely *ed off,’ he said.
  • ‘We went to bring Jim Jae-Hyun in but he ran. We chased and he shot me and—’ I said.
  • ‘He what?’ Taehyung yelled as Jin quickly took a step forward, a worried look on his face.
  • ‘Did you get hit? Are you okay? Do you need me to go get a medic?’ Jin asked.
  • ‘I’m fine. It’s probably just a bruise, nothing serious. Why does everyone think I’m so fragile?’ I asked, murmuring the last bit to myself.
  • ‘You’re our team leader Misun and we may not know you or each other well considering we just got together, but I think it’s safe to say, none of us want to see anyone get hurt, especially on the job,’ Namjoon said.
  • ‘I agree. Besides we need our team leader,’ Hoseok said with a wink.
  • ‘Are you sure you’re okay?’ Jimin asked while I nodded.
  • ‘Good. Anyway we can help then?’ Yoongi asked, while I nodded once more.
  • ‘Actually yes. Jin, has the taxi driver came yet?’ I asked.
  • ‘No, he’s on his way. I was thinking of showing him a couple of photos and see if he could identify Jae-Hyun among them,’ Jin explained.
  • ‘Excellent. Jimin, Taehyung, I need you to go to Jae-Hyun’s house and turn it upside down for any clues or evidence that could help us,’ I said.
  • ‘We’re on it Misun,’ Taehyung said before I turned to Hoseok. I pulled out the gun from my pocket.
  • ‘This is the gun he used. I want you to process it and check whether ballistics match,’ I said.
  • ‘Consider it done,’ Hoseok said as he took the gun from me. He examined it and smirked a little. ‘This is a 9mm handgun. It could easily be it,’ Hoseok commented.
  • ‘I’ll let you find out. Yoongi I want you to go through all of his details – financials, phone records, everything,’ I said.
  • ‘Will do,’ Yoongi replied.
  • ‘Namjoon, for now, I want you to stay on the outside during the investigation. I want you to observe Jae-Hyun’s behaviour,’ I said while he nodded.
  • ‘Got it. Are you going to leave him in the cell for now?’ Namjoon asked.
  • ‘Don’t have much of a choice. He asked for a lawyer,’ I said.
  • ‘*,’ I heard Taehyung mumbling while I said.
  • ‘I probably should go check on them and make sure Jungkook doesn’t end up strangling him. Get to work boys,’ I said as they nodded.
  • I made my way towards the room but saw Jungkook coming out. ‘Is everything ok—’ I began, but stopped as Jungkook grabbed me by the elbow and pulled me along with him. ‘Jungkook what are you doing?’ I asked.
  • ‘Just shut up and do what I say,’ he said, a little angrily. I frowned but not wanting to get into a fight with him on our fist day, I didn’t say anything. He led me to the infirmary and before I could stop him, he lifted me up and forced me to sit on the bed.
  • ‘Yah!! Don’t just do that!’ I yelled a little, but he just ignored me. He went to the cupboard and started to rummage through the stuff. ‘What are you doing?’ I asked.
  • ‘Take off your shirt,’ he said, his back to me. I raised one eyebrow as I stared at him.
  • ‘Excuse me?’ I asked just as he turned around, holding a cream in hand.
  • ‘Take off your shirt Misun,’ he said sternly. I frowned and rolled my eyes but went to lift my shirt. I could not help but wince at the sudden pain in my chest. ‘*, here let me help,’ he said in a softer voice as he approached me and helped me remove my shirt.
  • ‘Why are you fussing so much about this Jungkook? I’m fine. It’s just a bruise,’ I said.
  • ‘It’s a nasty bruise princess,’ he said as he looked at me with big, doe eyes. ‘Besides, you’re my partner. You had my back and saved my ass. You got this because of me,’ he said.
  • ‘Hey don’t,’ I said, forcing him to look up at me. ‘This wasn’t your fault. Like you said, we’re partners,’ I said and he sighed, deciding to drop the subject.
  • ‘Do you want me to put in the cream or do you want to do it yourself?’ he asked.
  • ‘You do it,’ I said, hoping this will let him feel better. I laid down on the bed just as Jungkook started applying the cream.
